If the move had been up to me, I'd still be in Las Vegas packing
boxes. Fortunately, Sean is ambitious and gets things done! We also
had lots of help from some great friends. Some of them watched the kids
so we could get stuff done, and others helped pack up the house. I
usually stood around wondering what to do, or where to start, but
somehow it all got done. We had planned to leave late morning or early
afternoon on Saturday, the 15th of June, but we didn't get out of there
until late Sunday night the 16th. What a fun way for Sean to celebrate
Fathers' Day... loading a moving truck and cleaning the house! Our
friends, the Reeses, came over Sunday evening and brought us some dinner
and helped us get the last minute stuff done. We wanted to do more as
far as cleaning the house, but felt we did a pretty good job,
considering we were still living in it until the time of the move! It
was around 11 pm by the time we got out of there. We thought about
dragging out the air mattresses to stay one more night in the house, but
didn't want to pull stuff out of the trucks or have the kids get things
dirty again after we had cleaned, so we just hit the road. Sean drove
the large U-HAUL and towed the minivan. Soren and Gabe rode with him.
Brooke and I followed along in the smaller U-HAUL. We had a little
trouble with the big truck on the way out of town which delayed us even
more, so we only made it as far as Mesquite that night. Parking two big
moving trucks - one with the minivan being towed behind it - was not
easy to do in the little motel lot, but we did it and got in to sleep
for a while. It wasn't the best night's sleep, but it felt good to just
be off our feet for a few hours! Our feet and backs were killing us,
and at the time, I didn't know I was pregnant, which is probably good
or else Sean would have made me take it a lot easier and he would have
had even more work to do.

Monday morning we were
finally on the road and we slowly headed up to Salt Lake. The boys
enjoyed riding in the big truck, but the highlight of the trip for them
was probably the stop in Scipio at the petting zoo. Unfortunately, it's
closed on Mondays, but at least we could see the animals. The kids had
a good time running around and stretching their legs a little. We
finally arrived Monday night to my mom's open arms and home. She is
such a good sport to take us in and let us live here. We spent the next
few days deciding what would stay at Mom's and what would go to the
storage unit. We ended up having to get two storage units. Why do we
have so much stuff? Ugh! Anyway, a dear neighbor, Dean Larsen, helped
us unload some of the stuff at the storage unit, but there was so much
to sort through and arrange that we didn't want him to stand around
wasting his time while we sorted, so mostly the job was up to Sean. He
was worn out after those few days! What an exhausting move, but we've
really been having a good time here. It's fun for my kids to get to
know the area where I grew up, and to be in this great neighborhood and
ward where we feel so appreciated.
