The Job Interview

We drove up to Rexburg, Idaho on Wednesday because Sean had an interview for a job at BYU-Idaho on Thursday.  He has applied for a position as the Online Educator Manager.  The online department is really growing and Sean is really impressed with it.  We were so excited he got an interview!  When we arrived in Rexburg, we drove around the town and the campus a little bit, then checked into our motel.  It was nice that the bill was covered by BYU-Idaho.  Working in public education, we've never experienced an interview where your expenses are taken care of!  After checking in, we went to get some dinner at The Hickory, which is owned by the brother of my brother in law, Taco.  Good BBQ if you are ever in Rexburg.  After dinner, we went back to the motel to swim.  All three kids loved being in the pool!  I think that was probably the highlight of the trip for them.  We were just going to take the boys with us because Brooke has never stayed asleep the whole night if she's sleeping in the same room as anyone else, but we decided to take her anyway, and it was fun to have her.  And she slept the whole night!  Sean and I didn't, however.  It's so hard to get a good night's sleep in a motel, especially when you are preoccupied with other things.  I'm sure Sean was thinking about his interview, and I was thinking about that, as well as hoping Brooke would sleep through the night.  I tried to lay as still as possible... not easy to do when you are pregnant.  There is never a perfect position.  Anyway, we got enough rest to get us going the next day, and we were just glad that the kids had slept well.

Sean's interview was at 11:30, so we had plenty of time to get up and get going.  The kids and I dropped him off on campus and then we went to a place called Fat Cats.  We went bowling and played some video games.  Soren was excited to bowl at first, but after about the third frame, he said he wanted to quit.  He was mad because he couldn't knock all the pins down.  I told him he'd never knock them down if he quit, and I made him finish the game.  I'm so mean to make my kids bowl!  Ha ha.  Gabe was ready to quit around the ninth frame, but I made him finish, too.  I let Brooke roll a couple of times when the boys were wearing out.  She loved it!  Soren used the little roller thing a few times, but most of the time he rolled the ball himself.  Gabe used the roller thing most of the time and started getting tricky with it by pushing the ball off with his head or with his shoulder or elbow.  He is such a silly kid.  I should have taken a lot more photos, but I left the camera in the glove box, so I just used my phone.  I didn't even take a photo of Sean on campus!  Lame!  Oh well, we will just be optimistic that he'll get the job and get a photo of him when he starts.

I choose this one... it matches my outfit!

Sean said the interview went well.  He felt good about it, but was glad to have it over with.  He interviewed with a committee of five people, plus had a phone interview with one other person the day before.  We really feel this would be a great place for us to raise our family, and Sean thinks the job would be a great fit for him.  They said they would get back to him the first of next week, so keep the prayers coming!  Thanks for the prayers that have already been said on our behalf.  Sean is one of four people interviewing for the job, and one of them is currently employed by the school.  We are really hoping he gets it!

After the interview, we drove around the town a little longer looking at homes and neighborhoods, but it was hailing/snowing, so we didn't stay long.  We decided we'd better hit the road and get the kids back home before they got too restless in the car.  They do ok, but aren't the world's best travelers.  Neither am I when I am pregnant!  Overall, it was a good trip, and we hope to soon be moving to Rexburrrrrrrrrrg, despite the cold weather!
