When we were in Salt Lake at Thanksgiving time, we went to a new sporting goods/outdoors store called Scheel's. Sean had been to one in Reno, so he knew it was pretty cool. We went with David, Karin, Caitlin and Jack on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so it was very crowded, but it was a neat store and the kids had fun. We saw Sheri Dew, who is a kind of high profile LDS woman who has written several inspirational books. I've met her before and she was really funny and cool, so I thought I would go talk to her, but that was a mistake. She said, "Thanks for saying hi." and didn't even smile. She totally gave me the cold shoulder as I tried to talk to her some more, so I finally gave up. I was not impressed! But I will forgive her because I'm so nice. Ha ha. Maybe she was having a rough day, but she just wasn't very friendly. Come on, lady, give us a smile and pretend you are happy!
Anyway, the kids tried out lots of sporting equipment like boxing gloves, weights, and guns in the shooting gallery, and they liked riding the ferris wheel when we finally got on it after our looooooong looooooooong wait in line. I can't remember how long it was, but it was over 30 minutes, I'm sure. Maybe closer to an hour. Soren and Gabe kept sitting down saying their feet hurt, which made me realize I'm not ready to take them to Disneyland yet! If they can't wait in one line that long then forget it! Sean took some photos of us from the second floor of the store, and we took a pic of him when we were all the way at the top! The boys were a little nervous when it got so high, but I think they liked it anyway.

| Gabe was obviously worn out. Time to go home! |
During our Christmas visit, we went with Janell, Taco, Dallas and Lincoln to a place called Planet Play. They had lots of video games, a few kiddie rides, race cars, mini bowling, mini golf, laser tag, and of course, a buffet. We were disappointed that the mini bowling lanes were either broken, or hogged by teenagers, but we had fun doing the other stuff. Soren and Gabe now think they know how to golf after one round of mini golf, even though they aren't patient enough to let us show them how to do it. I thought about letting them play a round of laser tag with Dallas and Lincoln, but it started getting crowded and our boys were getting tired, so we'll save that for another time. But we love being able to play with the cousins. Wish we lived closer!
