We keep asking the boys what they want to be for Halloween. I guess since our ward is having the Trunk or Treat party on Friday we'd better come up with something soon. Soren has decided on a pirate. He came up with that on his own several weeks ago and has stuck with his decision. Gabe somehow decided he wanted to be a surfboard. What? Yes, a surfboard. I don't know where he got that idea, but every time we asked him he'd say, "I'm going to be a surfboard!" I finally showed him some photos of surfboards and asked him if that's what he wanted to be and he said yes. So then I showed him some guys on surfboards and asked if that's what he wanted to be and he said yes. Hmmm...ok. So for a while he stuck with being a surfer, but this morning I asked him what he wanted to be and he said, "I'm going to be a surfer, but not tonight. I'm just going to be a pumpkin (well, he says punkin)!" Hooray! That's a better costume! I just asked him again and he shouted out, "I'm going to be a punkin!" So I guess it's punkins, pirates, and a lady bug. We got a cute lady bug outfit for Brooke, so I guess we'd better round up some pumpkin and pirate attire.
Last week we went to the pumpkin patch. Gabe fell asleep in the van, so he was grumpy when we got there. The boys had worn flip flops since it still isn't cold here, but they had to have socks on to play on the bounce house and slides. Conveniently, they sold socks there for $1/pair. Gabe wasn't thrilled to have them put on his feet, but he finally cooperated. Both boys climbed right up on the first slide and Soren slid down, but Gabe was hesitant. Strange, because he's usually fearless. I guess he was still tired. So I ended up having to climb up and then slide down with him. It was really fun! After that, he ended up loving it and from then on we couldn't get him to slow down. They loved the bounce house, slides, and other rides. They even posed for a moment with some pumpkins. It's getting harder for me to get them to hold still for a picture! When it was time to go, they complained because they didn't want to leave. We really had fun. On the way out Gabe said, "Wasn't that fun, guys?" So cute!
This has nothing to do with Halloween and Pumpkin patches, but I'm going to include it now so I don't forget it. Soren and Gabe just went outside. It's been really windy the past couple of days, so the big patio umbrella had blown down. Soren just set it back up on the patio by himself. It's pretty heavy, so I said, "Wow! You just lifted that all by yourself?" and he said, "Yeah! I'm getting strong like Daddy, I say!" He's so funny. He often adds "I say" to the end of his comments. Must be all that Wallace and Grommit he's been watching, I say!
