Gabe Got Baptized... A Long Time Ago

On November 4, 2017, Gabe Magnus Jensen was baptized.  He turned eight on October 29, and was baptized by Sean the following Saturday here in the Gunnison Stake Center.  Thank goodness I took photos, because I forgot we were in Salt Lake to celebrate his birthday.  So before we get to the baptism photos, let's check out the birthday celebration.  We had dinner and cake and ice cream at Mormor's with her and the Haws family.  Gabe was excited to get his cub scout shirt, a pocket knife, and scriptures from Mormor.  Soren was lucky to get a replacement pocket knife for the one he got when he turned eight, but had lost.  When we got home to Gunnison that night, Gabe was especially excited to get a new bike!  Soren got one when he turned eight, so Gabe was pretty sure he was getting one, too.  He was right!

Now on to the baptism!  It was in the afternoon because in the morning, the boys were playing for the championship in flag football.  We hardly won any games all season, but somehow ended up in the championship and took second place.  I'll do a separate post for football (if I remember).  Anyway, we had a nice turnout of family and friends from the ward to support Gabe at his baptism.  Sean baptized and confirmed him, and we were glad to have Grandpa Jim, Uncle Tres, Great Uncle Kevin, Bishop Pickett, and Kent Dyreng (our ward mission leader) in the confirmation circle.  Uncle David was working in the ER that day, so we missed him.  Gabe's cousins, Jack and Lincoln, gave talks on Baptism and The Holy Ghost, Dallas led the music, and Mormor accompanied the cousins as they sang "Families Can Be Together Forever."  Coleman and Grandpa Jim gave the prayers.  I think Gabe enjoyed the day, and he loves his blanket that Sister Pickett made for him to remember his baptism.  Thanks to all of you who were there to support Gabe on this important day!

Not a great shot, but this was Gabe following the tradition of shaking hands with everyone as they came to church the Sunday after his baptism.
