Brooke's Birthday - Five Years Old!

I can't believe our little Brooke is now five and will be starting Kindergarten next month!  Her birthday was less than a month ago on June 22. How about that?  A fairly current and up to date post for a change!

Her last night as a four year old
Brooke was sure she should have a party with her friends, but since the boys didn't have one until they were seven, we didn't let her do it.  She was a little disappointed about that, but with Mormor and the Watkins family here, she seemed to be showered with enough gifts and attention to keep her satisfied.
Pajamas and a hat.  Perfect birthday attire!  And a nice Lego birthday creation.
Brooke requested a Barbie Rock Star cake.  She wanted it to look like the picture on the base of her microphone stand.  I wasn't too sure about doing that.  I told her I didn't have all those frosting colors, but she assured me I could use what I had and still make it.  It wasn't perfect, but she was happy with the way it turned out, so that was good.

This Barbie mic stand base was the inspiration for the cake.

We didn't do anything too celebratory, other than cake and presents (I forgot the ice-cream), but she knew it was her special day.  We tried to remind the other kids to treat her a little nicer than usual, and playing with cousins and Mormor made it extra fun.  Karin had her niece's kids here too, so that added a couple other kids to the celebration and excitement.
She loves her umbrella from Mormor!
She was amazed that Aunt Karin knew Jasmine was her favorite princess!
Her own scooter!

Posing in one of her cute new outfits from Grandma and Grandpa.

Brooke is a smart little girl.  She's not reading yet, but I have a feeling she'll pick it up quickly at school.  She has learned to ride her bike without training wheels just within the past couple of months, and the other day she came running in to tell me she can do the monkey bars without help now!  She was just telling me last night that her favorite foods are meatloaf and chili, and she still has quite the sweet tooth.  She loves getting snuggled in her bed each night as she falls asleep.  She has a bit of a bossy streak to her, especially around Maddie, but she can also be very sweet.  She is so ticklish, especially under her chin.  She has the cutest smile and a great giggle!  She still loves to wear dresses.  She gets along well with other kids and always seems to make a new friend when we are at the park or anywhere else.  As I'm writing this, she just came in and did something else that is typical Brooke.  When she wants something, she doesn't just ask for it.  She first says, "Mom, please say yes to this."  And then she asks her question, whether it's asking to go play with friends, or for something to eat, it makes me laugh when she precedes her questions with, "please say yes." She is a girl who knows what she wants!  I look forward to her upcoming adventures in Kindergarten!
