"I Floored It"

I really should post videos of the funny things Brooke does and says, but the older I get, the less tech-savvy I feel.  So maybe I'll get Sean to help some day, but for now, you'll have to take my word for it and look at photos.  But Brooke really does say some funny things, and she has some hilarious ways of expressing herself.  Some of the photos I post have nothing to do with what I'm writing, but I just wanted to include some fun pics of Brooke.

The other day she was eating at the table and she dropped some of her food on the floor.  Instead of saying she dropped it, she said she "floored" it.  She's said it a few times and it just makes me laugh each time.  "Uh oh, I floored it."  She hasn't sat in her high chair for months, but because I got it out for Maddie, all of a sudden, she wanted it again.  I can't remember how I convinced her to stop using it, but she's back to the table again.  Probably because she didn't like being buckled in!

Often when she sees words or letters, she'll act like she's reading them.  For a while, everything was "p-i-t" and then it became "p-i-t-i-p"  but now it is "a-m-o-p".  She's starting to learn some of the actual letters though, so maybe this will change again soon.  She can recognize a "u" and an "o".  She's a smart little cookie!

When she is tired and cranky, we'll try to get her to take a nap or go to bed.  When she's extra feisty, she'll yell at us that she's not tired, but it sounds like, "I NOT TODDERED!"

Sometimes when you tell her what something is, she'll agree with you by repeating what you said and then adding "alright."  Like if I say "That's a stinker" she'll say, "That's a stinker, alright."  And she's started to begin her sentences with the word "well" like Gabe often does.  I'll say something like, "Come inside, Brooke." and her response, "Well, I not."

Gabe used to say he wanted to "gentle" something like "gentle the baby" when he wanted to hold Brooke, or "gentle the dog" if he wanted to pet a dog.  With Brooke, it's "soft."  If she sees a  dog nearby she'll say, "I want to soft the doggy."

She's learning some songs.  Out of the blue she'll just start singing, "The Loooooorrrrrd has shown me how I tan."  (Yes, it's tan, not can.)  Or if we're in the van she'll often request "The doo-wah song" which is a favorite of all the kids (It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing).  There is another song on that same jazz compilation cd that is called "Watermelon Man" and it's so cute to hear her say "Watermelon Man!"

Where did we get this funny girl?  A few other random things that I must say before wrapping up this post...
When saying the word "truck" she used to say it starting with an "f" and no letter r.  It was a little embarrassing when she wanted to play with a truck in nursery!  The nursery leader's husband got a kick out of it.  It's hard not to laugh when hearing it, but now it's more of an s sound, so we see "big sucks" which is better than what she used to call them!  Not sure why the boys both spoke so clearly right from the start and she's having a harder time with it, but she's getting better.  And gosh, she's cute!
She's not always fond of wearing clothes.  If I can get clothes on her, they are often taken off during the day.  Sometimes all she wants to wear is a onesie.

All of a sudden she loves eating vegetables and will eat second and third helpings of zucchini and yellow summer squash.  She'll also eat broccoli, beans, peas, carrots, and corn on the cob.  She is also fond of yogurt, meatloaf, chicken nugget dinosaurs, and fries.  But she still has a serious sweet tooth!

She just cracks me up.  And she can get my mom to do just about anything.  In fact, the other day, she had my mom out riding scooters with her!  I never thought I'd see my mom out riding toddler scooters, but Brooke insisted, and there she was!  It's tough to say no to Brookie!
