I took Maddie for her six month checkup today. She had a great time playing with the paper on the exam table, as you can see in this photo. She measured in at 16.67 pounds (57%), 26 1/2 inches tall (70%), and a head circumference of 17 inches (67%). Her size is just great. Her eating and sleeping habits need a little work. She was sleeping through the night for a while, but the last month or so, she's been waking up at least once if not two or three times a night. Often she's awake at midnight, 2am, and 5am, and then sleeps until 9 or later. What's that all about, Baby? I need to just let her fuss at night and go back to sleep, but I'm always afraid she'll wake up the other kids, so I guess we'll put her out in the family room so she can cry it out. The doc said she should be going eight hours without food at night, especially since she has shown us she can do it already. Time to get tough! The doc said it might take two or three nights, but it shouldn't be too bad. Maddie might not like me much these next few nights, but she'll like me better when I get a good night's sleep!
She's been enjoying rice cereal and an apple/banana combination, which I've been feeding her once a day, but the doc said go ahead and feed her the baby food at least twice a day, so we'll step it up a bit. He also said go ahead and start introducing other foods, including the "high risk" allergy foods such as peanut butter, eggs, and fish. None of the other kids have had any problems, so I don't anticipate any with Maddie.

This little girl is so sweet. Other than waking up too much in the night, she is perfect!

I'm the biggest pushover at nighttime. I think drs try to make us feel bad, but honestly, babies wake up at night.
ReplyDeleteAlso, she is super cute.
