This Is The Place

On the 25th of July, we planned to return to Lagoon so Karin and the kids could use their bounce back passes (David had to work), but instead, we made a last minute decision to go to This is the Place Park for some post-Pioneer Day fun.  We even talked Mom into going with us!  I'm sure the day before, the place had been packed, but it wasn't crowded at all when we were there.  We all enjoyed looking around and doing some fun things including pony rides, watching the blacksmith and the rope maker demonstrations, leather punching, and riding the train.  I think Brooke's favorite part was the little play village with a bunch of small buildings the kids could play in.  Soren and Gabe said their favorite part was playing on the ship, but Gabe really seemed to enjoy beating the rug to get it clean, and Soren enjoyed washing material on the washing board (guess we need to put them to work at home).  The kids also had fun panning for gold, making arrowhead necklaces, and trying out the stilts.  It was fun to be together and learn a little bit more about pioneer life.
