Maddie's Blessing

Little Maddie was blessed on May 4, 2014 in the Ensign Peak Ward.  Sean gave her a really nice blessing.  Many people in the ward commented to me, Sean, and Mom about what a beautiful and complete blessing it was.  Maddie was so well behaved the entire day.  She is such a good baby!  Sean had asked me before if there were things I was hoping might be included in her blessing, and I told him this was our fourth one, so he already knew the things we want for our kids, and just go by the Spirit.  But then, of course, I thought of some stuff.  I wanted her to know how much we as a family love her, and how glad we are to have her.  I wanted her to know what a blessing she is to all of us, and I wanted Sean to express gratitude to our Father in Heaven for Maddie.  He did a great job.  Here is a recap of the blessing.

In the circle we had Sean, Grandpa Jim, Uncle Dave LeGrande, my brother David, our friend and home teacher Curt Peterson, our friend Eric Jergensen, and Bishop Steve Christiansen.

Sean gave her the name of Madeline Beth Jensen, but referred to her in the blessing as Maddie, since that's pretty much all we call her.  Sometimes I wonder who people are talking about when they call her Madeline!  Anyway, he blessed her with:
  • An abiding love for the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
  • Sensitivity to the Spirit
  • Love of the Gospel
  • Ability and faith to go through tribulations and good times
  • Sweet countenance has already blessed our lives
  • May you continue to bless others with your smile
  • Your brothers and sister adore you
  • Physical strength to bless family and others
  • Love and gratitude for life and blessings
  • Love for arts, especially music and all it can give you
  • Desire to be outgoing
  • Wonderful sense of humor to work through trials and help others
  • Love of sports and the outdoors
  • Love of family and ancestors - desire to know who they are
  • Meet a young man to marry in the temple and have a family
  • We love you
  • Give you these blessings along with others the Lord will bless you with in the future

Cousin Ryan is almost a year older, but only weighs a few pounds more than Maddie!

Love that expression!

It was great to have family and friends here to share this special event with us.  Grandma and Grandpa Jensen were here for the weekend, as well as David and Karin and their kids.  Sean's Aunt Elena and Uncle Dave LeGrande came for the blessing on Sunday, and so did the Haws family, and our friends, the Jergensens.  The kids all had a great time playing in the back yard.  We were glad for nice weather so they could enjoy some fresh air, and the adults could hear each other talking in the house. My Uncle LeRoy and Aunt Judy also came up for the afternoon with their grand kids, Walter, Emma, and Svea.  Their mom, Marla, was in France, meeting her new in laws.  Thanks to everyone who was there to make it such a special and memorable day!
Off to Primary!
Ready for church.  She LOVES that dress.  Actually, she loves all dresses.  Didn't get that from me!
Eyeballing the cookies

Brooke and Svea exploring.  This was Brooke's outfit after her nap.  It's one of her favorite outfits!
Talked her into another dress.  Not hard to do.
