Checkups for the Boys

One week after taking Brooke in for her checkup, the boys had their checkup.  I wish we could have taken them all at once, but the policy is for only two kids at a time, so that's why we went two different days.  But seeing as Sean was working during the appointments, I guess it's good we split them up.  I can handle two at a time (usually), but three is a little crazy.  What will we do with four?  We'll survive, I'm sure.

Anyway, the boys had pretty good checkups.  They are overall healthy, except for some sniffles and stuff like that.  Soren actually had a little goop in his eyes when he woke up yesterday, so the doctor prescribed some eye drops for that.  It's torture getting them into his eyes, but I'm sure it will help clear up the junk.  The doctor also said it felt like Soren's spleen is slightly enlarged, but he didn't think it was a big deal.  He just told us to have him check it out next time we are in the office.  Seeing as we'll be having a baby soon, I have a feeling we'll be back to the office a few times in the near future.  He said it's common for the spleen to be a little enlarged, especially if he's been a little sick, so we'll just follow up in a few weeks.  Gabe also had some enlarged lymph nodes around his legs and belly, but the doc said that was also not a big deal.  Could be from the colds we've all had.  Their eyesight is great, they have good reflexes, and they are growing, growing, growing!

Soren weighs 47 pounds, and he's 47 inches tall!  His weight is in the 77th percentile, and his height in the 96th percentile.  Even the size 6 pants we have for him are getting too short.  Gabe weighs 39 pounds, in the 66th percentile, and he's 42 inches tall, in the 75th percentile.  They aren't my pudgy baby boys anymore.  They're getting so big!  Gabe was relieved to find out he didn't have to get any more shots this time, and they both had plenty of questions for the doctor, mostly about what everything in the exam room did.  "Is that a flashlight?  What's that for?  Are you going to poke our bellies?"  Gabe wondered if the doctor slept in that room because there were books in there to read.  I guess he thought if there are books to read, it must be for bedtime reading and then you go to sleep.  He asked the doctor if he slept in there since there are books to read, and the doctor said it probably wouldn't be too bad a bed to sleep on, and reading books before bed is a good thing to do, but no, he did not sleep there.  Funny the things they think of.
Happy to have his balloon and new haircut
Funny smile, but he did a good job spelling his name out of his modeling clay!
Soren and Gabe certainly give us a run for our money.  They are both now attending Little Ninjas Preschool.  They only go on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I think it helps to have both of them go together.  They are sweet little boys, and it's so great when they get along.  Soren has really been picking on Gabe lately, but we're trying to work though that.  It's a challenge, but like I say, when they do get along, it's great!  Funny how two boys from the same mold can be so different.  But that's good.  I'm glad they are individuals and they are figuring themselves out.  I think they will be helpful when the baby comes.  Soren likes to try to help with Brooke.  He loves to get her out of her crib.  It's not the smoothest process, but they both do ok.  I'm glad he wants to help.  I love these boys, and I love their personalities and the funny things they say and do.  They both just recently finished some swimming lessons and really enjoyed that.  They both passed to the next level.  Unfortunately, all the classes were full this session, so we didn't get them signed up again.  Hopefully Sean can take them to swim on his lunch break a few times during the month until the next session of lessons starts in March.  They really seem to enjoy it, and it's so great to get them out of the house and doing something active!  They are busy boys!

Gabe got sick a week or so ago, and this was how he rested up on the couch.
