So this month has been a whirlwind! We decided that we are going to move to Utah! And we decided we are going to do it next month. Aaagh! Things have changed recently at work for Sean, and it just seemed like a good time for him to wrap up life in the virtual school world and look for work in a district in Utah. We will go to Salt Lake for now and live with my mom until we find something more permanent. We are so grateful that she is able to house us and put up with us! We'll see how long she can take the chaos.
We will really miss our friends here in Las Vegas. Sean has been
here since he was eight years old, and many of his friends from his
youth still live here. That will be tough for him. We have both made
some great friends in our careers as educators, and leaving them will be
sad, as well. My Power Squad friends that I met when I was in the
singles ward are like family, and it will be tough to leave them. The
Las Palmas Ward and our neighbors have been soooooo good to us! Our
boys will miss their friends from Primary so much. My mom's ward
doesn't have a lot of children in it, so that will be a change, but
there are many wonderful people still there from when I grew up, and I
know we will feel welcome and loved. The nice thing about Salt Lake is
that most of our friends here in Las Vegas already have friends or
family there, or somewhere nearby, so they will visit occasionally. And
our friends who don't already know people there will, as soon as we get
there, so hopefully they will visit us, too! It will be fun to come
back and visit Las Vegas, but I'm excited to be moving back to Utah. We
really look forward to letting our kids learn how to ski, fish, and
enjoy nature. Plus, we look forward to getting out of the heat! Our
fair skinned, Scandinavian Viking blooded bodies will be glad to escape
the long, hot days of Summer here in Las Vegas. Yes, there will be snow
and cold to deal with, (and Cougar fans) but we're ok with that.
I
know I have a lot of photos to post from the last month or two, and
events to catch up on, but we'll see how we progress with packing and
carrying out this move. Most of the time, I just stand around wondering
what to do, while Sean just gets stuff done. I married the right man!
So anyway, if I get caught up, it's because Sean's doing all the work.
If I don't get caught up soon, Sean's still probably doing all the
work, and I'm chasing kids and wondering what I should pack and which
box or suitcase to pack it in!
Here are some photos from the last time we moved in April of 2011. Look how little the boys were! The first three photos are from our home on Pink Desert St. in North Las Vegas, and the rest are from our home here on Voyager St. in Las Vegas. Why are we moving around so much STUFF??? Fortunately, we have given away and sold a lot of things lately, including the exercise bike just today, and we still have quite a few things listed, so hopefully the load won't be too big for the moving truck in a couple of weeks!
I promise this Cougar fan won't bite!
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to see you Sunday evenings across the backyard when we are at John and Pauline's for dinner.
Best of luck with moving, packing is NO FUN.
You were already surrounded by Cougar fans in Vegas :) I hope things are going great with the job search up there. I am trying to not feel sorry for myself that you guys are gone. I feel like there has been a mass exodus from Las Vegas of late... Power Squad is scattered to the four corners right now. Anyway, I will let you know when we have any Salt Lake travel planned. Miss you guys!
