Valentine's Day

This was a fun year for Valentine's Day because the boys are old enough to understand a little better what it really is.  Soren had a party with his preschool class on Monday of that week, so he gave the teacher and each of the girls in his class a Toy Story valentine with a sticker and a sucker.  I had him write his own name on each valentine.  He wasn't thrilled about that, but I made him do it anyway!  Here is a photo of him with his pile of valentines, ready for school!
Soren and Gabe had fun delivering valentines to some of our friends in the ward.  I didn't tell them to drop them and run like we did with the pixie treats (Secret Santa) at Christmas time, but at one of the houses, Soren set the stuff down and rang the doorbell and ran back to the van.  He's a natural!  But I told him he didn't have to run and he could actually stay and say hi, so he turned around and went back to visit.  Seeing them deliver valentines brought back memories of when I was a kid.  I remember delivering a valentine to my friend, Debbie Fisher.  I was in a pink and white striped outfit (rare for me to have been wearing pink, but it was Valentine's Day, after all).  I dropped the valentine, rang the doorbell and ran, but it was dark and there was a big muddy hole in their lawn that I fell into as I tried to make my getaway.  I guess I got up pretty quickly because I don't remember getting caught, and I don't remember being hurt or anything, but I do remember stepping into that dang mud hole!   Fortunately, we didn't have any mud to contend with this year, so we all stayed clean.  We were so busy delivering treats that we forgot to give the kids their valentines until we were putting them to bed, so they opened them up but had to wait until the next day for the candy... poor kids.  These pictures make me laugh.  Obviously Gabe can't hold the same pose for more than three seconds.  The picture where he is sucking in his cheeks reminds me of the movie "Zoolander" (a dumb movie about a male model whose signature look was to suck in his cheeks).  Funny valentines!
