Oh Shuttlecocks!

Soren found his Nacho Libre tights!
Soren was in his room getting dressed the other morning and I heard him say, "Oh shuttlecocks!"  I realized his clothes were in the dryer so I headed for his room to see him storming out to tell me there were no pants in his drawer!  The photo of him in his tights was not the way he chose to resolve the problem, that was actually from several months ago when he found his Nacho Libre tights in an extra drawer.  I assured him his pants were in the dryer, so he quickly calmed down.  It just made me laugh to hear him say, "Oh shuttlecocks!"  He knows what a shuttlecock is because we have a plastic badminton set, plus Phineas and Ferb once made a giant one that they flew in.  Funny what comes out of his mouth sometimes.

Other than being frustrated about not having clothes in his drawer, here are some things Soren has been up to lately.  He is getting so big soooo fast.  Sean said he looked at him the other day and was shocked at how big and grown up he's getting.  He's not our little baby anymore!  His size 4 pants that he just got for Christmas are already too short.  Good thing it's warming up and he can start wearing shorts again soon.  We don't have to worry about the length on his shorts!  He loves his preschool class and doesn't seem to mind being the only boy.  His best friend, sometimes referred to as his "girlfriend" is Ella, but he also really likes the other girls in his class: Rylie, Rachel, and Kirsi.  He has made some cute things in his class, and he's learning his letters and some other things, I'm sure.  He doesn't always tell us what he's learned, but one day he just randomly started saying the Pledge of Allegiance, so I know he's learning some good stuff!
This was his Santa beard after taking a bath.
Soren is getting to be a good helper.  When we ask the boys to clean up the toys in the family room, he is the first to respond, and usually ends up doing it himself.  Gabe isn't quite as helpful yet.  One Sunday I found him doing the dishes all by himself.  He had rewashed some things that were already in the dish drain, and I'm not sure how clean things really got.  Mostly he just likes to see the soap bubbles and run the water, but he's learning.  He likes to help with emptying the dishwasher and doing the laundry as well.  He likes to pull the wet clothes out of the washer and hand them to me to put into the dryer, and when I take the dry clothes into his room, he'll put his and Gabe's clothes away in the drawers.

Brooke is getting so big, it's harder for him to hold her anymore, but he still likes to be around her and play with her.  The other day I put her in the little stroller and he really wanted to push her, so I let him for a bit, but he doesn't quite understand being careful all the time, so now he puts his stuffed monkey in the stroller and pushes that around.  Sometimes he'd rather do that than ride his bike or four-wheeler.  I think he has too many girl friends.  He needs some boy influence!

Ella's brother Zack has outgrown his clip on ties, so Kim (their mom) gave the old ties to us.  Soren was really excited to be able to wear a tie, and put on all three ties the day he got them!  I took him out to dinner with my Power Squad friends on Friday and he asked if he could wear a tie.  I told him it wasn't that formal a gathering, but he could wear it to church on Sunday.  He kept asking when a church day was because he wanted to wear his tie.  Yesterday was Sunday and he was so excited to put on the tie.  Then I did up his top button and we realized it was a little tight.  He put on the tie and looked so handsome and he liked it for about two minutes, and then he said it was choking him and he didn't want to wear it.  I couldn't even get a photo of him!  So the tie will have to wait until we get him a bigger shirt that doesn't choke his neck when we do up the top button.

Soren rarely takes a nap anymore, even if everyone else is asleep!

For the most part, Soren is a good little guy, but he can be stubborn.  He still has a bit of a mean streak and can be tough on Gabe, but he's getting better.  There are times when he just ignores what we say, and that's when he gets in the most trouble.  He also has some very sweet moments and can totally melt my heart.  And he's pretty dramatic and funny, too.  In fact, as I'm writing this, he has "melted" on the floor because he has no energy and needs me to put his cup of milk on the floor so he can drink it and get strong.  What a character!
