We've been experimenting a little with formula to see if it makes her spit up any less than the breast milk, but there doesn't seem to be much difference. We'll try some soy formula this week to see if maybe it's a lactose intolerance she's got, but I'm hoping it will just resolve itself. We're hoping we don't have to switch completely to formula yet. Expensive! I think when I eat lots of chocolate, it makes her spit up more. Dang. We have these chocolate covered macadamia nuts, and we also made chocolate chip cookies and chocolate dipped shortbread over Conference weekend, so I've been on chocolate overload. The cookies are gone now, and I'm not opening any more chocolate covered macadamia nuts for now! Even with the spitting up, she doesn't seem to be starving, though. She is a big, healthy girl! At her two month check up, she weighed in at 13 lbs. 9 oz. (95th percentile), she was 22 1/2 inches tall (50%), and her head circumference was 41 1/2 cm (90-95%). She may have started out small, but she's making up for it. Seems like just after turning two months old, she hit a growth spurt for about a month. I think she has slowed down a bit now, but man, she is a big girl! She's been sleeping through the night (nearly every night), for about a month now. She took the pacifier for short periods of time, but never got into it too much, so we have stopped offering it to her since we take them away from our babies at six months anyway. She really is just calm most of the time. What a dream! And her smiles and laughs are soooo cute! Here are some photos of Brooke to catch up from the past couple months or so of her progress, and to show off her cute outfits that people have been so nice to give us! Seriously, of all the outfits in this post, we bought two of them (the pink camo and the Ute shirt), and she still has lots of other outfits people have given her. Thank you, if you are one of those people who has clothed our baby. We really appreciate it! :-)
Don't wean! Formula is expensive and breast milk is better. Benny was a fountain and grew out of it. Andrew was wheezy but grew out of it. And she seems like she's growing fine. I got tired of my pediatrician pushing formula (and other reasons) so I switched. Jeez, I sound so bossy. I guess I'm an advocate. Anyway she's so darling in all her outfits. You have beautiful babies!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary! I know the breastmilk is better and definitely cheaper! I haven't worried too much because she is gaining weight, but it just seems the spitting up gets worse and worse. I'm hoping to be able to nurse at least until she's 6 months, if not longer though. With Soren I made it about 4 months and with Gabe only about a month because I was always on some kind of medication for stupid horrible headaches. Good to hear Benny grew out of the "fountain" stage! We'll try to stick with it!
