My Boys

I know the baby is getting a lot of attention lately, I mean, she's brand new and all, and people love babies!  But I still think I have the cutest boys ever, even if they do try my patience each day.  They are so smart.  I am amazed at the stuff they do and say.  I guess a lot of it is learned from TV.  We watch more than our fair share of it right now as it's so hot out and I just don't enjoy packing up three kids to take them out much on my own.  So we watch a lot of Curious George, Busytown, and many other shows.  They get their favorites and they watch them almost nonstop, and then eventually they move onto another.  The past few days Soren has really been into this animated Godzilla series from the 70s.  I was a little leary of him watching it at first, because I thought it would be scary for him, but it's actually pretty tame. It's funny because it's done by Hanna Barbara or at least one of those folks, so the music sounds like lots of other shows, and one of the voices of the dinosaurs sounds like Scooby Doo.  Yesterday Gabe was telling me what Soren was watching and a little bit about it.  For the most part, he speaks pretty clearly, but in his cute little voice I just couldn't help but laugh to hear him talk repeatedly about "Godziw-wa."

They were in the tub the other night and Soren asked Gabe if he wanted a cup to play with.  Gabe said he did and then Soren said, "Speaking of which" and then he handed him a cup.  Where the heck did he get "speaking of which"?  He used it again later that night.  And he used it correctly, too.  He's so funny.  He's been calling Brooke, "Baby Brookio" which I think he got from Curious George.  There is an Italian chef on the show and he calls George, "Georgio" so I think that's his inspiration.  It's kind of funny.  Sometimes he'll say Mommy-O and Daddy-O as well.

I can't remember his reasoning for the toilet paper stream, but he had a good reason for it... in his mind.

This was our "working lunch." We all had our laptops at the table while we ate.
We went swimming at the neighbors on Monday and it was the first time for me to swim after having the baby.  It felt so good to be able to jump in and swim underwater instead of just bobbing carefully on top like a bouy!  I told the boys to watch my feet and then I did a handstand on the bottom of the pool.  When I came back up they both had smiles on their faces and Soren swam over to me, hugged me tightly and said, "Mommy, I'm so proud of you!"  That made my day!

Gabe is kind of phasing out of naps right now, but every once in a while, he gets so tired he just falls asleep wherever he is.  Sometimes it's on the stairs, on the floor next to the couch, at the kitchen table, and once he fell asleep before we could even leave the pool area!  The great thing is that sometimes he's alert enough to get himself in his bed before he falls asleep.  It's not as funny as falling asleep at the dinner table, but it's nice when we don't have to carry him up to his bed.  He's getting big and heavy!

Under the couch?!!?

This morning before I started working on the blog, I was reading some other blogs of friends and family.  Gabe woke up and joined me while I was reading my cousin (cousin in law?) Teri's blog.  Their family had been on a trip to Idaho and Utah, and she put up a photo of her kids by the Christus statue at the Visitors Center in St. George.  Gabe saw it and quickly said, "Hey, that's Jesus!" I said, "That's right!" and he said, "He's covered in ice, but I think it's a statue."  I guess the white statue looked like ice to him.  I though that was pretty funny, and clever as well.  Here is a reminder of what the "ice statue" looks like...

Every night I love to go into their room after they are asleep and put their covers on and kiss them goodnight again.  They are such cute little sleepers!  It's exciting to see them grow up, but at the same time, it's tough to see them getting so big.  I love my little boys!
