Monday Fun!

This past Monday might be called a hallmark day in every man's life. A coming of age or a rite of passage into the ranks of the old and wise. I had my first of many similar procedures that will be required of me regularly for the remainder of my life. Suffice it to say, my pipes are clean. Several memorable moments happened in the process of this visit and procedure. The first of which was the nurse letting me know that I would be pumped full of air. As a result of this most uncomfortable preparation the nurse told me that I would need to release this air at the end of the procedure which would probably be very loud but, the nurse assured me, would be like music to their ears so just let it go! Okay, that was uncomfortable. Next I got to meet the anaesthesiologist who asked if I was looking forward to this procedure. Absolutely not was the answer and smiles abounded. I then talked with the surgeon, who surprisingly had no jokes, and I obediently rolled over on my side and bared my posterior. At this point I heard talking from a few people at the door of the surgical room. I looked up to see that the doctor had brought with him an audience of three female students from the local medical school who already had a nice view. Lovely. Soon the procedure was over and the warning from the nurse earlier was being experienced. Painful as it was, this "air" was unable to escape until I was at the babysitter's house at which time I held nothing back and embarrassed my wife tremendously. Finally the pain was gone and I was able to eat for hours on end until the bed beckoned me to sleep! What a fun Monday!
